The Water of Life
Today we hear the Word of God spoken to us that powerful, mighty Word through which the Holy Spirit creates and strengthens the gift of saving faith in us. Happy Endings
Ascension is a time of happy endings.  Jesus concludes His earthly ministry and returns to the Father's right hand.  He sends His disciples to share the Gospel message "to the ends of the earth."  Today that mission continues as we are called to be His witnesses and proclaim the message of life and salvation in Jesus Christ.

    Following Jesus without Embarrassing God
We have the hope of eternal life through the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus.  We are saved by grace through faith.  Now we are called by God to put that Christian faith into action.  In the Epistle lesson for today, St. Peter gives us words of encouragement and advice as we strive to follow Jesus and live our Christian faith every day.

    God at Work
Today we hear the account of the stoning of Stephen.  He was the first martyr of the Christian church.  God was at work in Stephen, even in the midst of his suffering and death.  God is still at work in our world and in our lives.  Nothing, not a coronavirus pandemic, not even death, can separate us from God's love.

    Good Friday
Today we remember that Jesus took our place on the cross.  He suffered the pain of death and separation from God the Father so that we will not be separated from God eternally. He was condemned so that we might be declared - Not Guilty!

On this Maundy Thursday, we remember the events of the final days of Holy Week.  From His washing of the disciple's feet to the institution of the Supper to the betrayal by Judas, the Church walks in the footsteps of Jesus to see our salvation unfold before us.
